Dr. Elizabeth Stein

Dr. Stein was born in Japan and lived out of the U.S. most of her first 8 years.  She was then raised in San Antonio, attended Texas Lutheran University, and graduated from Wartburg Theological Seminary beginning her ministry in the San Antonio area.  In 1991, she joined the staff at New Hope Lutheran Church in Missouri City and served through 2005.  While at New Hope she earned a Dr. of Divinity degree from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago in pastoral care. 

Dr. Stein also became involved in inter-faith work while serving at New Hope and has been a part of the ADL’s Coalition for Mutual Respect exchange program.  She currently serves on the steering committee for the exchange program.  Since early 2006, she has served as Leadership Director for the Texas Louisiana Gulf Coast Synod of the ELCA, and most recently has been an interim pastor in two Houston area congregations.   Her commitment to inter-faith activities has led her to this effort
